ABOUT JAY TAYLOR
Jay Taylor is a lifelong West Virginian, conservative Republican, and State Senator representing the area he’s called home for most of his life.
Jay got involved in politics young, helping on campaigns and staying active in the Republican Party at the local level. Over the years, he worked behind the scenes to support conservative candidates and causes, building relationships and earning a reputation as someone who showed up and did the work.
When the opportunity presented itself, Jay decided to run for office himself and voters put their trust in him. Since then, he has been proud to serve in the West Virginia Senate, guided by a clear set of principles: limited government, lower taxes, strong families, and personal freedom.
Faith plays an important role in Jay’s life. Raised without religion, he came to faith during college after years of conversations with friends who never gave up on him. That journey shaped the way he approaches family, service, and leadership. Today, Jay is unashamed about his Christian faith and regularly participates in the Senate Prayer Caucus.
In the legislature, he has focused much of his time on issues that directly affect rural communities and families like his own, bringing a practical mindset to his work at the Capitol. As an America-First conservative, he is a staunch supporter of President Trump and policies that restore America’s greatness. Above all, Jay believes public service is about responsibility, consistency, and doing right by the people you represent. He is grateful for the opportunity to serve and remains committed to West Virginia and the community that raised him.
Jay and his wife, Kristi, have been married for more than 17 years and are raising their two children, Reagan and Jack. Like many West Virginia families, much of their time is spent juggling school events, practices, church, and family life. They reside in Grafton, West Virginia.
